The Abbé House Inn is proudly owned and managed by the Herrington family: Mark Herrington and his mother, Bonnie Herrington. Being raised in South Louisiana surrounded by food most of his life, Mark saw an opportunity while on vacation in Arkansas one summer. It took him only a moment to be captivated by the beauty and tranquility that resided within the foothills of the Ozarks. His parents retired to Heber Springs in 1988 to be closer to family and several years later purchased some acreage as an investment on the world record producing Little Red River.
After living in California for almost a decade, Mark headed south in 1998 - back home and eager to start a new chapter of his life. When he arrived in Heber Springs, he knew he wanted to start his own business, but wasn’t sure if he would continue in the restaurant business. Each night at dinner, he and his parents would talk about what this beautiful resort town needed. Opening a Pancake House had been a dream of his mother's since she was a little girl. Seeing that there were so many restaurants and not many hotel rooms, they decided to go into business, as a family, and open a bed and breakfast inn. The following year, Mark started designing the inn and by that summer, construction was underway on the same land his parents had bought the decade before. The Abbé House Inn opened in January of 2000.
Over the years, the level and attention to detail in the service comes from the family's passion for and love towards their guests. Many customers have become friends and family and they wouldn’t want it any other way. Being an Inn Keeper takes a special type of person and The Abbé House Inn has two.
